Opening of the Refurbished Sensory Garden, new Memorial Tree, new Sensory Intervention Room and Refurbished Soft Play Room

11th Nov 2019

The family of the late Alana Kane (2001-2017), a much-loved pupil in Sperrinview, decided to raise some money for the school in memory of Alana. Sean (Dad), Majella (Mum), John-Joe (Brother), Máire (Sister) and Eunan (Brother) organised and participated in a sponsored cycle from Mizen Head to Malin Head in late August 2018. Together with other family members and friends. £50,240 was raised in total.

The money raised was used to refurbish the sensory garden and create a memorial tree outside. Indoors, a new sensory intervention room was created and the soft play room was refurbished.

The Kane family, and Kieran McMullan from Creative Activity who helped design and install the equipment in each area, came into school on Monday 11 November 2019 for the official opening.

We are so grateful for these fabulous resources. The pupils education is enhanced and they are enjoying the opportunities presented by such amazing equipment and areas.
